Made up of three subsidiaries, D2 Group offer electrical, integrated and facilities services across the construction industry.
With continued growth and diversifying into new markets, it became more and more apparent their brand had become disjointed over time. D2 were keen to reposition their identity in line with their growth objectives.
One of the biggest challenges was creating a fresh new look for each division whilst holding consistency throughout the group.
This is how we did it …
Following the BISON BLUEPRINT methodology we kicked off with a brand workshop at BISON HQ consisting of all the Directors and senior management team. This allowed us to really understand where the business was at and where they wanted to get to.
There were many different views and perspectives shared, but everyone left with a general direction of where the project was heading.
After the workshop and now well versed on D2, we conducted comprehensive background research and began creating design concepts.
Fast forward three weeks and we meet again. This time to present several options from ‘safe’ brand evolutions to some more radical ideas (with rationale).
Showcasing the two extremes helped the team understand which direction they wanted to go in. When the final concept was signed off, we discussed colours and materials in more detail. Final sign-offs were then locked into the brand guidelines and we created an implementation plan to make and deliver the printed assets.
Once the brand was approved, BISON created physical assets including …
The original aim was to create a brand that was modern, consistent and clean. The final product allows each company to stand strong by itself, but also to work well alongside each other.
Before the project, the branding was inconsistent, flat and old school (not very professional). We really wanted to move away from this perception towards bigger and better things. We needed a company who were strong enough to steer us all in the right direction and keep us on track! We see BISON a lot on social media and knew they could take on four people with very different opinions and make sense of us all!
Seeing everything that BISON had done for other companies made us realise that’s what we wanted to do – we didn’t speak to anybody else. We saw from the showcase of their previous work that they were experienced in what they do – we knew it would work well for us.
We recently went to an event in Cannes, where we launched our new brand. Someone I’d never met before shook my hand and said, “Jordan, I love your rebrand, it looks amazing, you’re doing fantastic work”. That shows the power of what our rebrand has done – BISON has done a fantastic job!
The whole process exceeded our expectations; from not truly understanding the value of what we were doing to knowing we needed to do it. We really enjoyed the journey that we went on, from the initial discovery meeting, the brand presentation through to the launch of our new identity and receiving compliments.
What surprised me the most is the concept we settled on. It wasn’t the direction we initially chose, but then looking at it more – the design, colour, texture and feel – it felt right.
If you want to modernise your business, but don’t know or understand what that looks like, speak to BISON – they’ve been there and done it. Their success stories and fantastic branding speak for themselves.
A very simple and humble ‘thank you’.
