As a creative design, print and signage business chasing the bottom line you would think BISON’s first recommendation when Kent Invicta Chamber said they needed some updated expo graphics for the Kent Construction Expo would be to throw out the old and start afresh!
Well that couldn’t have been further from the truth!
Instead, BISON and Kent Invicta Chamber worked together to “Rethink ‘n’ Reuse” as much of the existing exhibition stands as possible – a massive win to sustainability!
How did this all come about?
A chance conversation around sustainability between Neil Vanstone, Head of Membership & Events at the Chambers and BISON MD Mark Bidewell at a networking event led to no less that 20x old roller banners being sent to BISON to be ‘traffic light appraised’ as Mark puts it.
Upon receipt of the roller banners the team at BISON went through each and every one to see if any were reusable and/or could be repaired – the upshot was 80% of them were reused!
As part of the process BISON removed the old graphics, serviced the systems that were reusable and produced/fitted new, fresh, high-quality graphics.
The new graphics also carried several additional ‘planet first’ benefits too.

The upshot of all of this was a double edged sword – a financial saving to the Chambers as well as a massive reduction in carbon impact/waste when compared to traditional methods. Essentially disposing of perfectly fine hardware and replacing with new, not to mention the carbon emissions created from moving in and out new and old goods respectively.
The Triple P (People. Planet. Profit.)
